Throughout history, political cartoons have played a significant role in the shaping of this great nation. With just a few strokes of a pen, the cartoonist sums up a complex situation in a single powerful image that explains everything. Thus, the humble cartoon brings about change and peace and togetherness and understanding and progress and happiness.

To begin, we are watching A Free World Needs Satire 14 minutes. 
   

Assignment: below you will find 10 satirical cartoons from around the world.  Look at the images carefully, as well as any text. For each of the 10, explain the satirical message. You might have to do some research, if you are not current with the news. You responses should be a couple of well-written sentences for each, whose "evidence" is based upon specifics from the image. 

These are due by the close of class on Wednesday, unless you receive extended time.
